Match Report: Gloucestershire Seniors V Glamorgan - 28th June 2021
GLOUCESTERSHIRE SENIORS VERSUS GLAMORGAN.
CHANNEL LEAGUE RESULT. GLOUCESTERSHIRE 8 pts, GLAMORGAN 7
Gloucestershire Seniors continued their quest to qualify for the final of the Channel League with a slender win against a very strong Glamorgan team at Long Ashton on Monday 28th June. Building on the win against Gwent the Gloucestershire team fell behind in the morning foursomes although wins from local due Wood and Wright along with Jarvis and Morris kept them in touch leading into the afternoon singles.
The performance of the whole team was strong on the day but the first six players getting 5 and a half points out of the first six matches was exceptional. Long Ashton locals Wood and Wright both posted two points each on the day playing excellent golf. Captain Nick Morris said, “I put them under a bit of pressure by asking them to play in the top matches but they responded magnificently.”
Once again Steve Prosser was they player whose result consolidated the win with his half point in the final match.
Gloucestershire’s next match is an away fixture against Glamorgan which will be a tough task but the confidence amongst the squad is building nicely.
