  Tell us what your role is about and what it involves

  Attend Executive & Council meetings. Identify the necessary plans and resources to deliver the team objectives. Develop the team strategy in order to achieve both individual and team objectives. Monitor the performance of players within the GGU and evaluate for potential future selection purposes. Provide the leadership in order to control and manage all planning and execution within a defined budget. Accountable for the management of team performance with regard to selection. Continuously review processes and procedures. Directly responsible for team discipline. Ensure player compliance with the county constitution & rules. Deliver a playing calendar that minimises any conflicts with player individual schedules. Report on team & player performance. Interface with the coaching chairman. Provide regular and effective communications between the team & Executive 

Why do you do this role in the GGU?

Personal enjoyment and making a difference. Creating and supporting a pathway from junior to adult County golf. Motivating and inspiring others to succeed Creating a whole team ethos

Describe your top three most memorable golf moments in Gloucestershire

Wining the Severnside Counties Boys championship in 2013 which was the first of 3 years retaining the trophy.

The Miracle at Minch - 4-1 down after the morning foursomes, giving my first real half time talk followed by taking 7 out of 10 points in the afternoon to win the match 8-7

Winning the SWW stoke play in 2018 at 1st attempt as a Captain and taking the team to the EG finals where we finished runners up

What do you look forward to the most in a season?

creating plans and budgets to allow for the very best our teams deserve

How have you been keeping busy during 'Lockdown'?

Trying to create a playing schedule for both the channel league and southwest Week - unfortunately, other counties were not as keen as we were. Taking part in the keepy up video. Being part of the potential changes to the GGU future. Some general conversations with the players both verbally and via WhatsApp. Setting up capability at Rolls Royce to make ventilators for the NHS

What are your aspirations for the game of golf in Gloucestershire?

To boast great moral, to attain the highest possible standards and representation for this county through results, commitment, and conduct. To provide opportunities to play County golf by reaching out to the players in member clubs. To be acknowledged as the best county in England by what we do and what we achieve

What one piece of advice can you offer to clubs affiliated to the GGU?

Don't be afraid to reach out to the County and ensure all our communications reach your membership

What one piece of advice can you offer golfers wanting to explore their potential, no matter what their age?

Be committed to working hard at your game. This means playing competitive golf, structured practicing and entering ranking events to show your potential to team selectors
