The safety and welfare of juniors at our championships is paramount. It is important that we have a note of all relevant contact details, illnesses, medical condition and other relevant health details relating to all junior competitors so that their best interests are addressed. Conditions of The Competition
1. The Championship
a. The Championship shall be open to U16s boy & girl amateur golfers of all nationalities. (Girls Red, Boys White tees.)
b. It shall be played over 36 holes of stroke play on one day. The winner shall be the competitor who returns the lowest gross score over 36 holes. In the event of a tie, there will be a sudden death play-off over holes to be decided by the Championship Committee.
c. i. 60 players shall play in the Championship.
ii. Ballot: If entries exceed 60, they shall be reduced to 60 by eliminating the higher handicaps by ballot or in such a way as the Championship Committee shall determine. Players eliminated by ballot will be kept on a reserve list. If players are not subsequently offered a place or are unable to accept such an offer, entry fees will be returned.
d. Players may use caddies, who must be under the age of 18 at 00:00hrs on 1st January of the year in which the Championship is played. Penalty for Breach of condition:  The player gets the general penalty for each hole during which he or she is helped by such a caddie. If the breach happens or continues between two holes, the player gets the general penalty for the next hole.

2. Entry Qualification
Entrants must be:
a. Under the age of 16 at 00:00hrs on 1st January of the year in which the Championship is to be played.
b. In possession of a handicap index not exceeding 6.4.

3. Exemptions
Irrespective of handicap index, players who finished in the top 3 places in the GGU U16s Boys and winner of the GLCGA U16s Girls Championship, (if held).

4. Winner and Prizes
a. The winner shall be presented with the Ken Newman Salver at the Prize Presentation. Prize vouchers shall be awarded to the top five places. (The salver will be retained by the GGU.)

Note: The above conditions of competition must be read in conjunction with:
I. Gloucestershire Golf Union’s General Conditions. II. Gloucestershire Golf Union’s “Hard Card” (Standard Local Rules, Conditions of Competition, Regulations and Safety Advice) both of which apply to this Golf Championship.
