Conditions of Play, Qualification, Entry and Prizes

1. Conditions of Play
a. The Championship shall be open to U16s boy & girl amateur golfers of all nationalities
i. Girls Red, Boys White tees
b. It shall be played over 36 holes of stroke play on one day
c. There will be a maximum of 60 competitors
d. Caddies are not permitted
2. Qualification
a. Entrants must be:
i. Under the age of 16 at 00:00hrs on 1st January of the year in which the Championship is to be played
ii. Be in possession of a WHS Handicap Index not exceeding 6.4
b. Irrespective of handicap index, players who finished in the top 3 places in the GGU U16s Boys and winner of the GLCGA U16s Girls Championship, (if held)
3. Entry
a. Entry Fee £30 inclusive of light lunch
b. Entries will be limited to 60 entries (including the boys who finish in the first 3 places of the GGU U16s Championship, regardless of handicap and the girl winner of the GLCGA U16s Championship, if held)
c. Ballot:
i. If entries exceed 60, they shall be reduced to 60 by eliminating the higher handicaps by ballot or in such a way as the Championship Committee shall determine
ii. Players eliminated by ballot will be kept on a reserve list
4. Prizes
a. The winner shall be the competitor who returns the lowest gross score over 36 holes.
i. The winner shall be awarded the Ken Newman Salver that will be retained by the GGU
ii. In the event of a tie, there will be a sudden death play-off over holes to be decided by the Championship Committee
b. Prize vouchers shall be awarded to the top five places
5. Practice rounds
a. Practice round arrangements will be communicated to competitors together with tee time allocations Online Competition Payment Cancellation PolicyYou can withdraw your competition entry by calling the County Secretary on 0793 6416775 or by email to secretary@gloucestershiregolfunion.co.uk and quoting your unique reference number. If you withdraw after the competition start sheet has been published on the website your entry fee will not be refunded unless in exceptional circumstances. If a championship or competition is cancelled for whatever reason a full refund of the relevant entry will apply. The Championship Committee’s decision will be and deemed to final in the event of a dispute. Entry for this competition is balloted to 60 entries. Online entry does not guarantee a place in the final competition.
This competition requires that fees be paid to complete entry. If the payment process is not completed, your entry may be removed.
