Online Entry for Seniors County Championship

Conditions of Play, Qualification, Entry and Prizes
1. Conditions of Play
a. The Championship shall be stroke play played over 18 holes
b. 120 Competitors maximum shall be eligible to compete
2. Qualification
a. To be eligible to enter a player must:
i. Be in possession of a WHS Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4
1. The Championship committee may decide to accept an entry from a player with a handicap index higher than the maximum handicap index detailed in the terms of competition
2. If such an entry is accepted, the player’s playing handicap will not be limited in any way
3. Such an entry will only be accepted if space exists after the entry deadline is passed
ii. Have been born in the county or be a current member of a GGU affiliated club
iii. A competitor must not have taken part in a golf championship of another County affiliated to England Golf or have represented another County, including friendly matches during the current calendar year.
iv. Have attained the age of 55 years prior to the Championship commencing
3. Entries and Ballot
a. Entries to the Championship shall be made by entry form or online and should be sent to the County Secretary to reach him before 17th July 2024, together with an entry fee of £22.00
b. Order of Play and Starting Times will be sent to competitors via email if provided.
c. From the maximum entry of 120
i. 45, 35, 25 and 15 places respectively shall be allocated to the age groups 55–59, 60–64, 65–69 and 70 and over
ii. In each individual age group, in the event of applications exceeding the number of places allocated, entries for the higher handicapped players shall be by ballot
iii. All unsuccessful entrants will be informed without delay but will be given the opportunity to compete should withdrawals subsequently occur
iv. In the event of entries, in any age group, being insufficient to fill all places allotted to that age group, the places shall be allocated to the other age groups
4. Prizes
a. The winner shall be the competitor who returns the lowest gross score
i. The winner shall be awarded the Championship Salver that will be retained by the GGU
ii. In the event of a tie the winner shall be decided by a sudden death play-off
b. There will be a prize for the Runner Up
c. The Competitor who returns the best net score will be awarded the Norman Dumford Challenge Trophy that will be retained by the GGU
i. There will be a prize for the Runner Up
d. Subsidiary Competitions by age group shall be played within the Championship.
i. Competitors returning the lowest gross score over 18 holes in each of the age groups, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70 and over shall receive a prize
ii. Championship Winner and Runner Up shall not be eligible for a subsidiary group prize
5. Champion Club Tournament for the MacAllan Cup
a. The competition is for teams of three players from any one club and will be held concurrently with the Seniors County Championship
i. Names of members comprising the Club Teams must reach the Secretary by 1st August 2024 (before play) and must be accompanied with the entry fee of £10.00 per team
1. Team members must be playing in the Championship
b. The winning club shall be awarded the MacAllan Cup that will be retained by the GGU
c. The winning club will be the club with the lowest gross score taking the best two scores out of three
6. Practice rounds
a. Practice round arrangements will be communicated to competitors together with tee time allocations Online Competition Payment Cancellation PolicyYou can withdraw your competition entry by calling the County Secretary on 0793 6416775 or by email to secretary@gloucestershiregolfunion.co.uk and quoting your unique reference number. If you withdraw after the competition start sheet has been published on the website your entry fee will not be refunded unless in exceptional circumstances. If a championship or competition is cancelled for whatever reason a full refund of the relevant entry will apply. The Championship Committee’s decision will be and deemed to final in the event of a dispute. Entry for this competition is balloted to 120 entries. Online entry does not guarantee a place in the final competition.
This competition requires that fees be paid to complete entry. If the payment process is not completed, your entry may be removed.
