County U16 Boys Championship (incl. U15 & U14 Boys Championships) Rules

Conditions of Play and Qualifications
1. Conditions of Play
• The Championship shall be stroke play played over 18 holes.
• The winner shall be the competitor who returns the lowest gross score over 18 holes.
• The attention of all competitors is drawn the General Conditions relating to all Union Championships and Tournaments.
Players may NOT use caddies. Penalty for breach of Condition: Two strokes for each hole at which any breach occurred. Maximum penalty per round: four strokes.
2. Prizes and Vouchers
The winner shall hold the Lewis Trophy until the next Championship. In the event of a tie for the Championship the winner shall be decided by a ‘sudden death’ play-off. Ties for other prizes will be decided on the last 18, 9, 6, 3, or 1 holes.
• The competitor returning the lowest net score will hold the Scott-Cooper Cup.
• The competitor aged under 15 on the 1st January 2021 and who returns the lowest gross score will be awarded the U15s Day Plate.
• The competitor aged under 14 on the 1st January 2021 and who returns the lowest gross score will be awarded the U14 Salver.
• No competitor may win more than one prize voucher.
3. Qualification
To be eligible to enter a player must:
• Be in possession of a WHS 'handicap index' not exceeding 24.4.
• Have been born in the county or have been a member of a GGU affiliated club for at least twelve months immediately prior to the date of the meeting.
• Not have competed for the Championships of any other County Union since January 1st of the previous calendar year.
• Be under the age of 16 years on January 1st in the year the Championship is to be played.
4. Entries
Entries to the Championship should be sent to the County Secretary to reach him on 30th Apr 2021, together with an entry fee of £15.00. Order of Play and Starting Times will be sent to competitors and to the Secretaries of Competitors’ Clubs via email if provided. Once the draw is published no refunds of entry fees will be returned. Those finishing in the top 3 places will be offered a place in the West of England U16s Open Championship.

7. Parental Consent - Please note that an 'Online Parental Consent Form' MUST be completed and submitted prior to check-in on the day of the Championship.
The safety and welfare of juniors at our championships is paramount. It is important that we have a note of all relevant contact details, illnesses, medical condition and other relevant health details relating to all junior competitors so that their best interests are addressed. Please complete the online parental consent form with our assurance that the information you provide will be treated as confidential. It is the responsibility of the junior and their parent/guardian to notify the Gloucestershire Golf Union Championship Department if any of the details change at any time.
