Over 50 qualifiers from their respective Club medals took to The Players GC on Wednesday 2nd July to battle it out to be crowned County Medal Champion. It was great to see so many clubs represented and we thank all those who held qualifiers in the lead up to the event. The recent hot weather had subsided and the cooler temperatures were welcomed.
The overall winner was Jack Jones from Alexander Park GC after he fired a magnificent net 72 in the windy conditions. This also secured Jack the Division 1 title. In second place in Division 1 was Kevin Rivers (Filton) who was just 1 back with a fine 73. In third and a further stroke back on 74 was Paul Gillam (Shirehampton Park).
Paul Callard of Rodway Hill took the Division 2 title with 72 but losing the overall on countback to Jack Jones. Second place in Division 2 on 74 was Leon Sciberras (Puckrup Hall) and Steven Baxter (Cirencester) was 3rd on 76.
Well done to all the County qualifiers for making it to the final and we hope you enjoyed the day. We had 1670 entrants across the County so it is an achievement in just reaching the County Final. Our final thanks go to all the staff at The Players GC for accommodating us throughout the day and for setting the golf course up in a way that was fitting of such a Championship. We are truly grateful.
