U16 Championship
This years U16 Championship was held at Shirehampton Park GC on Sunday 11th May. After a very dry start to the year the course was in fantastic condition and the boys were blessed with good golfing weather for the most part. Thankfully the rain, thunder and lightning did not affect us and the rain only arrived as the last groups finished on 18. With three age group trophies up for grabs, there was plenty to play for. We were delighted to host this event again in conjunction with the Gloucestershire Girls Championship and both events were a great success.
After a long days play a sizeable crowd gathered and were present to see the conclusion of play. Ernie Elford (Bristol & Clifton) scored an impressive 73 which was good enough to secure him victory in the U14 age group championship. In 2nd in the U14's was Thomas Sutherland (Broadway) with 76.
The winner of both the U15 & U16 age group category was Oscar Linton (Bristol & Clifton) with a best of the day 72. A very good score and Oscar was presented with the U15 & U16 trophies. In 2nd place in both the U15 and U16 age groups was Ernie Elford.

U14 - William Malkin (Minchinhampton)
U15 - William Robinson (Brickhampton Court)
U16 - Will Rellie (Knowle)
Well done to all the players who took part, the event was played to the very highest standards and we hope to see many of the same faces at the Boys Championship in July. Our sincere thanks go to all at Shirehampton Park GC for hosting the event and for their hospitality throughout the day. We are always grateful for the support shown to the GGU by the club and their members.
