County Medal Final
Over 50 qualifiers from their respective Club medals took to Cirencester GC on Wednesday 3rd July to battle it out to be crowned County Medal Champion. It was great to see so many clubs represented and we thank all those who held qualifiers in the lead up to the event. The early weather provided difficult scoring conditions with regular rain showers making it a difficult day for golf.
The winner was Liam Haggar from Forest of Dean GC after he fired a magnificent net 67 in the wet and windy conditions. This also secured Liam the Division 2 title. In second in Division 2 was John Dare (Lansdown) who was 5 back with a fine 72. In third also on 72 was Kevin Burford (Forest Hills).
Matthew Strzelecki of Cotswold Edge took the Division 1 title with 72 which gave him victory by a single stroke over Robert Thorne (Thornbury) and Dan Gear (Ross on Wye) who were 2nd and 3rd respectively both on 73.
Well done to all the County qualifiers for making it to the final and we hope you enjoyed the day. Our final thanks go to all the staff at Cirencester GC for accommodating us throughout the day and for setting the golf course up in a way that was fitting of such a Championship. We are truly grateful.
