Gloucestershire Seniors took on Lilley Brook A Team in their first encounter of the year.
Both captains, Nick Morris ( Gloucestershire) and Harry Cleveley ( Lilley Brook) took the opportunity to play some competitive golf after an awful winter.
Competitive it surely was and with the Lilley Brook course in surprisingly good condition the match was a 3/3 half.
Brian Mitten and Tim Clink, both Lilley Brook players but representing Gloucestershire could have been forgiven if they felt slightly under pressure but were never behind before delivering the first point for the County team.
The next point for Gloucestershire came from Steve Prosser and Dave Williams before Steve Yorke and Nick Morris overcame Lilley Brook's top pairing of John Terry and Darryl James.
Our thanks to Lilley Brook GC and their A Team for looking after us and giving the team valuable course time in preparation for the Southern Counties Foursomes Qualifier later in the year.
Gloucestershire's friendly match against Worcestershire has been rescheduled for April 26th with the next opponents being Gloucestershire Ladies on 3rd April.
