The match with the U18 girls went well today with a comprehensive win over the girls in our annual friendly match.
All the teams had to give shots and some of them had to work hard to get a result, in the end the boys won through. The first 3 teams had to give 14, 12 and 13 shots and the last 3 matches all had to give 6 shots.
The first group were going along nicely being 3 up with 4 to play but were clawed back and lost the last to halve their match.
The second match was an easier affair with both boys playing well and by making lots of pars the girls couldn't make an impression in the match and lost on the 13th.
Match three was a close affair with the game going backwards and forwards, Sam Edlin had to hole a 40ft birdie putt on the 17th hole to get back to all square and a par on the last secured the half point.
Match four started off well for the girls with them being 2 up through four holes but Ted and Djib fought back well through the turn to take control of the game and in the end winning easily on the 15th hole.
The fifth game was a bit more one sided with the U16's getting up early being 2 up through 2 and then keeping their high standards up until the 14th hole.
The final game again was close with both sides going up and down and being all square through 14 holes. The boys then won the 15th, halved the 16th and won the 17th to win the match 2 & 1.
It was a good game played in a good manner and it did the boys well to get a competitive game under their belts.
We wish the GLCGA Girls all the very best for the season ahead.
