The Schools International match – England v Wales took place on Bank Holiday Monday at Llanwern G C. This is now our final event for 2025 bringing the successful season to a close.
It was an amazing day with 2 of our Avon Schools players taking part – Jaxson Perry (The Kendleshire and Winterbourne Academy), Mariella Buchanan (B & C and Backwell School) and 3 of our Glos Schools players taking part – Summer Carash (Minch and Cirencester Deer Park School), Felix Chippendale (Cirencester and Cirencester Deer Park School) and Louis McDiarmid (Wrag Barn and Hartpury College). This has been the most players we have had reach the International Match, from our patch, in any year, representing 35% of the field! Just fantastic!
Jaxson lost his morning foursomes 2 down but won his afternoon singles 7 & 6
Louis won his foursomes 2 up and halved his singles
Felix lost his foursomes 2 down and lost his singles 3 & 2
Boys team result was Wales 7.5 – England 4.5
Mariella captained the girls, winning her foursomes 5 & 4 and singles 7 & 5
Summer won her foursomes 3 & 2 and lost her singles 1 down
England won the match, with the girls pulling out all the stops in the afternoon to bring the overall result to 11.5 – 9.5
Girls team result was Wales 2 – England 7
Overall result was Wales 9.5 – England 11.5
Very well done to England for all their efforts and yet another victory!
Thank you to everyone who has helped in any way, supporting the schools golf across the Gloucestershire and Avon areas and also thanks to our South West - Enmore Park and all the National venues.
The English Schools Golf Association is still evolving every year and has a brilliant team behind the scenes, ensuring young players are able to experience golf, on this prestigious national pathway, by engaging them through their schools, colleges and counties.
See you all next year!
