Gloucestershire U12's lose to Somerset

After hosting Somerset with the U14’s last week it’s their turn to host the U12’s at a bright and breezy Wheathill GC

As always with all our squads the boys went through the Viktus/GGU warm up to ready themselves for 18 holes of greensomes matchplay with all firm breezy conditions making the first a tricky opener

The early holes saw some great golf with Tommy and Theo hitting within a flag length on 3 while their opponents nearly hit the flag on 3 and at the turn things were fairly evenly balanced. Gus and Will keep it tight with little between them while Ben and Charlie fought back from losing the opening 3 whereas Ethan and Teddy built and early lead and were holding on to it well

Hole 14 would see the first points from Ethan and Teddy making a solid Par to close it out while on 15 a Somerset gross birdie on 15 took a return point for them. The top match stayed tight but 17 went the way of a Somerset win leaving just Tommy and Theo as the decider. However Somerset made a gross birdie on 17 and a great up and down on 18 to get a last gap half and the match to Somerset 2.5 to 1.5

A big thanks you to everyone at Wheathill GC for being such good hosts, Ben from Somerset for such great support on the day along with our own Ian Hughes  and especially to all the parents for getting the boys there and supporting them so well

As the season continues with more Jeff Halls on the horizon as well as Glamorgan for the U14s next week at Forest of Dean
