A lovely sunny day welcomed the players at a very well presented Bristol & Clifton.
Honours were even against the Auld enemy at lunch time, after a well fought and well deserved half in the morning foursomes.
Ernie Elford went two down in the top game after a 3 putt at the first and a lost ball at the second (which was subsequently found next to the green!), he then fought back to go 1 up on the 18th tee but after both players found trees off the tee, it was Ernie who lost out having to take a penalty drop and then watching his par putt slide by, for a well fought half.
Doug McMurty was at one stage 4 down but fought back to level the game only to finally loose 2 down.
In the third game Luis Brain was in control of his game winning 6&5.
In the remaining games all but Josh Rigby who was level, were down after 9 but after a strong fight back by all players, we finally came up short, with only Patrick Rabjohns and Josh Rigby winning their games, with three others loosing on 17 and James Sutherland fighting back to loose on 18, having been 4 down at one stage. Patrick and Josh played well for their wins.
Huge thank you to Ian Veale, General Manager and his team who looked after us so well throughout the day, very grateful to Bristol & Clifton GC and their members for the courteous welcome and generous hospitality.
Gloucestershire U16s were a huge credit to U16 Manager Donard Duffy and U16 Lead Coach James Tuck.
