We had a wonderful day for the Glos Schools Championship at Stinchcombe Hill. The weather was very kind to us, and, dare I say it, it was extremely hot – too hot for some!
A huge thank you to the management and members at Stinchcombe Hill for allowing us the use of their course, and especially Paul Bushell for all his help in organising the day. Also thanks to Matt Ayres and his greenkeeping team for their incredible work on the course and for presenting it so magnificently; to Ellen Seally and the bar and catering team for keeping everyone well fed and watered and to Mark Pitcher and his pro shop team for their support of ball prizes and the players needs.
Thanks to our district schools/colleges for allowing their students to take part in the event, our brilliant referee, Bernie and our two starters, Peter French and Gary Ward.
We had an entry of 72 players, with 70 actually turning up to play on the day, representing 21 schools/colleges and 25 clubs – just fantastic! This has been our biggest event for a number of years. I think Stinchcombe Hill was a popular venue for the players!
There were some great scores, especially from many of the mid to high handicap players and an incredible score of 65 from the overall boys winner! The prizes were awarded, as below, with the full results being at:
