QUOTE OF THE DAY!

Is this your J2O?  ( this goes with the photo of Sam Sullivan who ordered his J2O at the bar and the bar lady had been having a bit of sport with Sam and Jake)

DAY ONE - FRIDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER - GLOUCESTERSHIRE 3.5 V LINCOLNSHIRE 5.5

Due to adverse weather conditions overnight and flooded greens a delayed start this morning - play will be over 13 holes starting from the 6th.  18 holes singles to be played this

afternoon #goflashes!

SHOTS OF THE DAY!

Jake Phillips – hole 12 – hit a 7 iron to 5ft and holed it for a birdie

Calum Mortimore – hole 18 – hit a stinger 4 iron to 8 ft and canned it

Nick Day – hole 10 – hit a rescue off the tee, drew it slightly left and it ended up the other side of a tree! How did it get there???? Yes, it was ‘…Goin’ on a Bear Hunt – can’t go over it; can’t go under it; can’t go around it; Got to go through it (if you know your children’s story books?)

QUOTES OF THE DAY!

“I just know when I see someone  with an old style putter, they’re just gonna be good!”

“Is that your buggy down there? Oh, yes, I’d better go back and get it!”

DAY TWO - SATURDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER - GLOUCESTERSHIRE 4.5 V CUMBRIA 4.5 - MATCH HALVED

SHOTS OF THE DAY!

Nathan Moore – hole 16 – Neil Tocknell walked by Nathan saying, ”Time for a chip-in here…” Nathan duly obliged and chipped in from 20 yards!

Ash Millington – hole 17 – 220 yards out, uphill, pin hidden by a bunker and Ash hit the green

Jake Phillips – hole 11 – 145 yards knockdown with a 9 iron, then a putt on a tough downhill slope - it was like hitting a ball off a car roof and stopping on a bonnet, when the ball rolled nicely in!

QUOTES OF THE DAY!

‘That tree is the safe place (told to one of our players, by a spectator, as he was setting up to his shot! Helpful??? NOT!!)

‘That’s not your ball – that’s a mushroom’ (it actually WAS the player’s ball!)

Is that another J2O???? (Sam Sullivan on the hard stuff again!!!!)

Team Mascot - Mia Our oldest and youngest Supporters (84 years between them!) Time for a re-fuel! .... and to check their socials or complete their playing stats!!??

DAY THREE - SUNDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER - GLOUCESTERSHIRE 4 V ESSEX 5

SHOT OF THE DAY!

Nathan  Moore – hole 18 – (story leading up to this)….Nathan was up 2 up with 3 to play. His opponent holes a 50ft putt down the green to win hole 16 and a subsequent huge shout and fist pump! 17th hole, Nathan in for birdie. His opponent cans a 40ft putt across the green to halve the hole and another huge fist pump! 18th green – both players on in 2, 35ft away. Nathan holes for a birdie and the win, followed by our eruption of a shout, and fist pump from Nathan, the team, and all the GGU supporters around the green!

QUOTE OF THE DAY!

…a final word from our County President- Ian Hughes – about our participating county players…’they are nothing but the greatest and I have the greatest admiration for the way they played. Bring it on next year…’
