U16 Championship

The second GGU Championship of the 2022 season was the U16 Championship which was held at Stinchcombe Hill GC on Sunday 8th May. After a very dry April the course was firm but in fantastic condition and the boys were blessed with perfect golfing weather. With three age group prizes there was plenty to play for.

After going out in the first group Finn Ellis (Bristol & Clifton) set the early clubhouse lead with 70 and after an agonising wait for most of the afternoon, it was confirmed upon the conclusion of play that Finn was the 2022 U16 Champion. In second place beating numerous players on countback with 73 was Daniel Berry (Minchinhampton).

The U14 and U15 section runner up and winner were the same. In second place in both age groups after shooting a fine 74 was Charlie Pearce Ward (The Players Club). Beating Charlie by a single stroke and taking home the U14 and U15 titles was Oscar Linton (The Bristol). Well done Oscar!

After their results in the U16 Championship Finn Ellis, Daniel Berry, Roo Jones &  Samuel Edlin have secured exemptions into the West of England U16 Championship which takes place in September at Cotswold Hills GC.

Our thanks go to all at Stinchcombe Hill for hosting the event and for their hospitality throughout the day. We are always grateful for the support shown to the GGU by the club and their members.
