On a blustery July afternoon the juniors took on the county seniors. This is the first time we have played this fixture for several years but will hopefully now become a regular fixture, as both sides really enjoyed the day, with lots of praise from the seniors on how the juniors conducted themselves, as well as some fantastic golf on display.
The result was a bit one sided and in no way reflected the nip and tuck nature of several of the games.
Hugh Purvis (Long Ashton) and Steve Yorke (Shirehampton) had a fantastic game at the front managing a very well deserved half with in form juniors Oli Jenkins (The Players) and Milan Reed (Long Ashton) - never more than a hole or two in it, with both sides edging in front during the afternoon before then falling behind. A half was learnt after some excellent golf from both sides.
The other games went to the juniors after some remarkable steady play on their part but in no way reflected how close the games really were. It was a fantastic learning opportunity for the juniors.
We would like to thank Bristol & Clifton for their hospitality and to especially thank Mathew Hawker and his team for preparing such an excellent course.
