As you will have seen England Golf has made the decision to cancel or postpone all its championship and events up to and including 7 June. If not please see following link, https://www.englandgolf.org/championships-performance-covid-19/. It is recommended that this also applies to all county and regional competition played during this time. We are reviewing these events and will endeavour to try and arrange a number of these for later in the playing season. Due to the schedule however it will not be possible to reschedule all the events impacted by Covid-19. Further detail will be provided as and when available.
England Golf and the Championship dept. will be monitoring the situation of the pandemic closely in view of events taking place after the 7 June. It is however felt that at this time cancelling or postponing events beyond the 7 June would be premature and that events should continue to be planned as normal. Having said that please be mindful of incurring any expenditure that could not be reclaimed should a decision be made to cancel events.
We have a received number of queries relating to the playing of women’s County Match weeks and qualifying for the Men’s, Boys and Senior county finals. Obviously the playing of the finals in September and October will be reviewed based on whether these qualifying rounds have been played. At this time no decision has been made.
England Golf is encouraging golfers to continue to play the game with the appropriate safety measures in place. Club competition may also be played and to assist this the R&A have submitted a temporary modification to a number of the Rules of Golf to take into account the procedures put in place to eliminate the risk of contamination. Information on this can be viewed here.
