The weather may have created less than favourable conditions for this year’s West of England Under 16’s Amateur Stroke Play Championship but 60 young golfers from across the UK still came together to compete in the 2019 event.
Ryan Georgiou, from Pinner Hill Golf Club in Middlesex, took home the trophy on the day and now holds the West of England Under 16 Junior Open Champion title. Ryan shot scores of 69 and 73 over the superbly presented Crown Course at Tracy Park Hotel, to take The Ken Newman Salver, by a single shot from Davina Xahn (Mendip Spring Golf Club) and Gloucestershire’s own Milan Reed (Long Ashton Golf Club).
The event, which took place on Sunday the 22nd September attracts the attention of England Golf Selectors so is a key event in the golfing calendar for junior players.
Mark Powell, Junior Organiser, said, " We hope that everybody enjoyed their day, and would especially like to thank Tracy Park for looking after everybody so well. It really is a first-class venue. Each and every Junior who came to compete should be immensely proud. To have qualified with a handicap of four or better from an entry of 110 players represents an incredible standard of golf for young players.”
