West of England U16s Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship - Rnd 1 Rules
Conditions of Play, Qualification, Entry and Prizes
- Conditions of Play
- The Championship shall be open to U16s boy & girl amateur golfers of all nationalities
i. Boys play off WHITE tees
ii. Girls play off RED tees
- It shall be played over 36 holes of stroke play on one day
- There will be a maximum of 45 competitors
- Caddies are not permitted
- Qualification
- Entrants must be:
i. Under the age of 16 at 00:00hrs on 1st January of the year in which the Championship is to be played
ii. Be in possession of a WHS Handicap Index not exceeding 6.4
- Exempt from any ballot providing they are at or below the entry requirement handicap index of 6.4, are the players who finished in the top 3 places in the GGU U16s Boys and winner of the GLCGA U16s Girls Championship (if held)
- Have a minimum of five 18 hole competition qualifying scores in their WHS Record in the preceding 12 months from the day the event closes for entry
i. If a player does not conform to c at the entry deadline, their entry may be rejected and they will be issued a full refund.
- Entries and Ballot
- Entries to the Championship shall be made by online by 3rd September 2026, together with an entry fee of £35.00 inclusive of light lunch
- Entries will be limited to 60 entries (including the boys who finish in the first 3 places of the GGU U16s Championship, regardless of handicap and the girl winner of the GLCGA U16s Championship, if held)
i. If entries exceed 60, they shall be reduced to 60 by eliminating the higher handicaps by ballot or in such a way as the Championship Committee shall determine
ii. Players eliminated by ballot will be kept on a reserve list
- Prizes
- The winner shall be the competitor who returns the lowest gross score over 36 holes.
i. The winner shall be awarded the Ken Newman Salver that will be retained by the GGU
ii. In the event of a tie, there will be a sudden death play-off over holes to be decided by the Championship Committee
- Prize vouchers shall be awarded to the top five places
- Practice rounds
- Practice round arrangements will be communicated to competitors together with tee time allocations
