Midland 4 Counties - Day 1

On Thursday 21st April the GGU Boys Team headed to The Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club to compete the in the Midland 4 Counties. For 2022 the event returned to its usual space in the calendar and reverted back to singles after it was played in October and as Foursomes in 2021. Over 2 days the Boys will play matches against Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire. The players selected to represent Gloucestershire are as follows:

Adam Sutton (Broadway)

Toby Janes (The Kendleshire)

Lewis Stalley (Brickhampton Court)

Edmund Fry (Minchinhampton)

Danny Townsend (Minchinhampton)

Jamie Berry (Minchinhampton)

Dylan Duffy (Minchinhampton)

Enzo Cryer (Bristol & Clifton)

The first match on the afternoon of Thursday 21st April was against Worcestershire. Supported by the infamous Green Army the team were eager to get off to a good start. The weather was perfect and the golf course a good test. Through the front 9 all of the matches were tight but some strong back 9 performances from the boys meant that the match finished in Gloucestershire's favour 5.5 - 2.5. A very strong start but with 2 further matches on Day 2 there is still a lot of golf to be played. The other match played on Day 1 between Staffordshire and Warwickshire finished 4 – 4.

It is all to play for on Day 2, where the boys play against Warwickshire in the morning and then Staffordshire in the afternoon.
