Junior Team Championship

After a very successful 2021 season the first Championship of the 2022 season was the Junior Team Championship which was played at Forest Hills GC on Friday 15th April.  Over 65 juniors and 23 teams took part on what was a lovely day for golf on a great golf course. Our sincere thanks must go to everyone at Forest Hills where the GGU always receive a very warm welcome. The golf course was in great condition with super fast greens which made it a great test of golf for all the players. We are also very grateful to the number of volunteers who gave up their time to help on the day, thank you.

The format of the event is the best 2 from 3 stableford scores and the winners will go on to represent Gloucestershire in the England Golf Junior Champion Club Final which is to be played at Woodhall Spa GC on 11th & 12th August. The scoring was close throughout the day and the top spot changed hands a number of times but it was the team from Bristol & Clifton who claimed the title. There was some impressive scoring with Luke Colling scoring 35 points, Jack Lockwood with 38 points and Una Morrissey had an incredible best of the day, 49 points, which gave them a team total of 87 points. This was good enough to seal victory by 6 points. In second place on 81 points were the Long Ashton team of Niall Miller-Clark, Djibrael Ali and Lewis Ault. In third on 78 points were the defending champions from The Players Club, Oscar Horler, Will Rawlins and Luis Brain. Well done to all competitors for giving it their best efforts and for representing their clubs impeccably.
