The South West Counties Seniors Championship
The South West Counties Seniors Championship was held at an immaculate Ferndown Golf Club on 19th and 20th July. Although acquitting themselves with a creditable performance Gloucestershire Seniors could not keep pace with Dorset and their considerable home advantage. Dorset will now go through to the National finals later in the year and we wish them well.
In difficult conditions, it was very much down to fitness and concentration over the two days. Steve Yorke was the man who kept Gloucestershire in touch on day one with a marvelous level par 71. Over the two days, however, Rich Wood proved to be the most consistent and was just plus five for his two rounds winning his individual category and once again proving his pedigree.
