Gloucestershire County Golf Team are set to face the best amateur golfers in the region next week as they take part in six days of gruelling competition golf.
Starting on Saturday 8th June 2019, at Parkstone Golf Club in Dorset, South West Week is a highlight of the golfing calendar and will see 11 of the counties best golfers take on competitors from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire.
Three championships will take place across the week - The South West Counties Team Championship, the South West Qualifying for The English County Championship and The South West Counties Amateur Championship. Gloucestershire’s Golf team placed Second, First and Second in last year’s respective championships and 10 of the top 19 players in The South West Counties Amateur Championship were from Gloucestershire.
Gary Ward, County Captain, said, "I'm very happy with the balance of this year’s Team, it’s a great mixture of youth and experience. The commitment over the winter months and the first few matches of the season has been excellent. I'd like all the Team to play with confidence, desire, belief and above all be proud to be part of the Team and The Gloucestershire Golf Union."
