County Seniors Championship Rules

Conditions of play and Qualifications
1. Conditions of Play
The Championship shall be stroke play played over 18 holes.
The winner, who will hold The Championship Salver until the next County Seniors Championship, shall be
the competitor who returns the lowest gross score. In the event of a tie the winner shall be decided by a
‘sudden death’ play-off. There will be a prize for the Runner Up.
The Competitor who returns the best net score will hold the Norman Dumford Challenge Trophy until the
next meeting. There will be a prize for the Runner Up.
Subsidiary Competitions by age group shall be played within the Championship. Competitors returning
the lowest gross score over 18 holes in each of the age groups, 55–59, 60–64, 65–69, 70 and over shall
receive a prize. Winner and Runner Up shall not be eligible for a subsidiary group prize.
The MacAllan Cup will be awarded for the best 2 net scores from a nominated team of 3 players from the
same club. (Entry fee is £6.00 per team.)
120 Competitors maximum shall be eligible to compete.
The attention of all competitors is drawn to the General Conditions relating to all Union Championships
and Tournaments.
2. Qualification
To be eligible to enter a player must:
• Be in possession of a CONGU ‘competiton’ handicap not exceeding 18.4.
• Have been born in the county or have been a member of a GGU affiliated club for at least twelve
months immediately prior to the date of the meeting.
• Have attained the age of 55 years prior to the Championship commencing.
3. Entries and Ballot
Entries to the Championship shall be made by entry form and should be sent to the County Secretary to reach
him before 9th August 2019, together with an entry fee of £15.00. Order of Play and Starting Times will be
sent to competitors and to the Secretaries of Competitors’ Clubs via email if provided. From the maximum
entry of 120; 45, 35, 25 and 15 places respectively shall be allocated to the age groups 55–59, 60–64,
65–69 and 70 and over. In each individual age group, in the event of applications exceeding the number
of places allocated, entries for the higher handicapped players shall be by ballot. All unsuccessful
entrants will be informed without delay but will be given the opportunity to compete should withdrawals
subsequently occur. In the event of entries, in any age group, being insufficient to fill all places allotted to
that age group, the places shall be allocated to the other age groups. Once the draw has been published
no refunds of entry fees will be made.
