The Seniors Scratch Foursomes Salver
The Seniors Scratch Foursomes Salver Competition is open to ALL CLUBS affiliated to the
Gloucestershire Golf Union
Format and Conditions of Play
1. The competition shall be played by Foursomes match play over 18 holes.
2. Each Club Team shall consist of 6 players (3 pairs), and matches shall be played off Scratch.
3. Each player shall have attained the age of 55 years on 1 January of the year of the competition.
4. Team Captains to exchange pairings 10 minutes before the match is due to start.
5. All games to be played from medal tees (white markers).
6. In the interests of Equity a game that cannot start in its allotted place due to some exceptional circumstances, relating to one pair or the other, may be put back to the end of the field. Should this occur and the pair in question is still not available to play within 5 minutes after the other two pairs have teed off, they shall forfeit the game. No replacement of players is allowed after the Captains have exchanged pairings.
7. All games to be played to a result. NO HALVED GAMES even if a match result has already been achieved. A concession is allowed to the team that cannot win the match rather than continue play.
8. Where a match has to be abandoned because the course is waterlogged or due to dangerous playing conditions, i.e. thunder and lightning, before a result has been achieved, another date must be arranged on which to replay the match. In this event any previous individual game results will not stand. Clubs do not have to field the same team in the rearranged game.
9. The County Senior Captain or County President will make a draw for the preliminary round in time for the Annual General Meeting of the Gloucestershire Golf Union in March. The President or Officers of the Championship Committee will make the draw for all subsequent rounds.
10. Each round must be played by the stipulated date and the match result, (signed by both team Captains), sent to the County Secretary. If a match is not played and/or the result not received by the stipulated date, both teams will be disqualified.
11. The only extension to these dates that will be permitted will be a ‘General’ extension in the event of very bad weather conditions causing courses to be closed for long periods. The Championship Committee will decide any such extension.
12. All matches up to the semi-final stage will be played at the course of the home named club who will provide an after match meal, paid for by each team member. Players are expected to change into formal dress, i.e. jacket and ties for the meal unless agreed otherwise by the home club. Players are expected to stay for a meal. It will be down to the Captain of each team to inform caterers of numbers. A club may sacrifice its home advantage to the away teams club if preferred.
13. The final will be played on the same course & same day as the Presidents Cup Final.
14. The County Senior Captains Salver will be presented initially after the final and again at the Annual Dinner of the Gloucestershire Golf Union in November.
