To be played by 20th June
Results of matches to be sent by noon 22nd June 2010 on the official form to;
Ian Watkins
Secretary
Gloucestershire Golf Union 07/05/10
Minimum aggregate handicap of Team of 10 is 90
(For a team of less than 10 players see conditions to work out aggregate handicap)
The County Presidents Cup
Entry Fee £20 per team (must be paid before playing)
The Presidents Cup Competition is open to ALL CLUBS affiliated to the Gloucestershire Golf Union.
Format and Conditions of Play
1. The competition shall be played by Foursomes match play over 18 holes.
2. Each Club Team shall consist of 10 players (5 pairs), with a minimum team handicap of 90, i.e. average 9 per player. Should a team have less than ten players, for whatever reason, the average handicap of 9 per player will be maintained, i.e. a team of eight players will have a minimum team handicap of 72
3. The maximum CONGU ‘active’ handicap for any team player shall be 18. (Higher handicap players can play)
4. The stroke allowance shall be ½ (half) of the difference of the combined handicaps of the players in each game.
5. The matches shall be played in ascending order of the combined handicaps of the team pairs. Team Captains to exchange pairings and ‘active’ handicaps 10 minutes before the match is due to start.
6. All games to be played from medal tees (white markers) in the ascending order of combined handicaps.
7. In the interests of Equity a game that cannot start in its allotted place due to some exceptional circumstances, relating to one pair or the other, may be put back to the end of the field. Should this occur and the pair in question is still not available to play within 5 minutes after the other four pairs have teed off, they shall forfeit the game. No replacement of players is allowed after the Captains have exchanged pairings.
8. All games to be played to a result. NO HALVED GAMES unless a match result has already been achieved, i.e. a team has won three or more matches.
9. Where a match has to be abandoned because the course is waterlogged or due to dangerous playing conditions, i.e. thunder and lightning, before a result has been achieved, another date must be arranged on which to replay the match. In this event any previous individual game results will not stand. Clubs do not have to field the same team in the rearranged game.
10. A draw will be made for the preliminary round at the Annual General Meeting of the Gloucestershire Golf Union by the County President. The County President or Officers of the Championship Committee will make the draw for all subsequent rounds.
11. Each round must be played by the stipulated date and the match result, signed by both team Captains, sent to the County Secretary. If a match is not played and the result received by the stipulated date both teams will be eliminated. The home club must offer at least one weekday & one weekend day as well as the last date of play
12. The only extension to these dates that will be permitted will be a ‘General’ extension in the event of very bad weather conditions causing courses to be closed for long periods. The Championship Committee will decide any such extension.
13. All matches up to the semi-final stage will be played at the course of the home named club who will provide an after match meal, teams to share expenses. Players are expected to change into formal dress, i.e. collar and ties for the meal unless otherwise agreed by the home club
14. The semi-finals and finals will be played on the same day at a neutral course, if possible.
15. The Presidents Cup will be presented initially after the final and again at the Annual Dinner of the Gloucestershire Golf Union in November.
Qualifications:
1. A player representing a club:
(a) Must be of Amateur status as defined by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.
(b) Must only represent his HOME club.
(c) Cannot play for TWO CLUBS in one year.
2. Competitors will not be permitted to ride in motorised BUGGY CARS.
3. Entry fee to be paid before the 1st match is played
4. Penalty for breach of conditions: Disqualification of pair and/or team.
5. Must have a CONGU ‘active’ handicap & report his personal club identification number if required
