Seniors Channel League

The final Channel League game of the season was against Cornwall at Lilley Brook. The weather was dry, if occasionally blustery and both sides were keen to finish the season with a win. Cornwall got off to a fast start winning the top 3 fourballs, all 2/1. Gloucestershire managed to clinch the last 2 games leaving Cornwall 3/2 ahead at lunch. Cornwall took the top single against Nick Gore, who was struggling with a bad back, but Gloucestershire came back winning the next 4 singles leaving the match finely poised. Steve Garrahy managed a creditable half but the next 3 singles were lost before Dave Potter secured the last single to clinch a draw for Gloucestershire.

For both County captains it was their last game as captain and they took the opportunity to thank their team mates for the support they had received during their respective tenures. For me it has been both a pleasure and a privilege to captain the County Seniors team. Stuart Masson has kindly agreed to take over the captaincy next year and I hope he receives the same level of support which I have been fortunate enough to receive from players and County Officials during my captaincy.
